I have started a roguelike in order to get better at Rust, and am planning on writing other blog posts as I make major updates to it. In its current form, the roguelike is little more than a tech demo for various kinds of map generation algorithms but I plan on adding many more features to it as time goes on. I have been following a great ongoing tutorial series about developing a roguelike in Rust that you can find here.
Silevril (Sil-R) is a roguelike written in Rust inspired by previous Angband and its many variants. Sil-R is set in the First Age of Middle Earth and its goal is to steal a silmaril from Morgoth’s crown and escape with it.
The source code is available at my gitlab and there is an online web assembly version that should play in most browsers. The web version of Sil-R does not allow you to save currently because I save everything save to a json file and I have no idea how to get that working in the browser.
